How to unlock Blacksmith Items
Blacksmith Items or Event Items can be unlocked during an Event. Events are special in-game occurrences, where players have to do a special quest/mission to gain points (Event Points).
In an event player must attack NPC cities and destroy the City Center of these cities to gain points, these points called Event Points can be used at the end of an event to unlock Event Items in the Event Store. You can find all the Events and Event Items here.

Updates
In the 2014-05-30 update, the Blacksmith received more levels and can now be upgraded up to level 7. With each level a player can unlock more slots up to 12 slots.
